An opportunity for a Member Service Representative I (MSR I) position is available in our Financial Services department.  The incumbent is responsible for providing courteous service to members, striving to increase member satisfaction by analyzing, assisting, and fulfilling all members’ financial service needs, as well as making judgment decisions regarding the delivery of financial product and services to members.  This position processes basic business and personal member transactions, promotes deposit products and services to meet member needs, and makes appropriate referrals to other departments.

The ideal candidate will have at least 12 months of customer service experience in a retail sales or service environment.  Computer and keyboarding skills and the ability to use sophisticated office equipment is a must.  They are attentive to detail, have the ability to recognize opportunities and communicate options effectively, and approach all situations with a positive, professional outlook.  An ability to develop great working relationships with others and a dedication to providing exceptional service is essential.

About the Role

As an FSR I, you will develop relationships with current and potential members through discussing their financial needs with a focus on lending. You will:

  • Prepare loan applications and related documentation in compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, and procedures
  • Conduct risk assessment and evaluation of consumer-related loans
  • Follow up on delinquent accounts as directed by senior lending staff
  • Perform routine loan audits as directed
  • Resolve routine member problems and concerns
  • Recommend beneficial products and services
About the Candidate
  • A minimum of 3 years experience in lending and financial services, preferably in a Credit Union
  • Successful completion of Credit Union Products and Services (CUIC 185)
  • Successful completion of Consumer & Residential Mortgage Lending (CUIC 210)
  • Enrollment in or completion of Fundamentals of Personal Financial Planning (CUIC 240) is also an asset
  • Attentive to detail
  • Have the ability to recognize opportunities and communicate options effectively

Position Overview

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Reporting: Compile financial reports for management, directors, and regulatory bodies.
  • AML Compliance: Develop, implement, and monitor AML policies and procedures. Conduct due diligence checks and maintain AML documentation.
  • Payroll Administration: Process payroll accurately and on time, maintain employee records, and ensure compliance with labor laws.
  • Procedure Development: Write procedures, monitor for efficiencies, and support other divisions.
  • Support Roles: Assist with member and CRA year-end tax reporting, troubleshoot issues, and provide support to the Controller, VP Finance, and CEO.
Qualifications
  • Education: High school diploma with business and computer courses. Post-secondary education in accounting or a related field is preferred. CUIC Credit Union Products and Services certification is a plus.
  • Experience: 2-5 years in accounting or finance, preferably in a Credit Union environment.
  • Certifications: AML certification (e.g., CAMS) is a plus.
  • Skills: Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and knowledge of accounting processes and regulations.
